General educational information only. Equipment, installation conditions, applicable codes, and service availability vary. This page is not a diagnosis or a substitute for qualified electrical work.
When existing wiring may remain
If conductors, connections, grounding and bonding, circuit protection, and installation conditions are suitable, full-house rewiring may not be needed. This must be evaluated for the actual property.
When work may expand
Damaged wiring, unsuitable conductors, poor prior alterations, insufficient grounding or bonding, or code-related concerns may require additional work.
Capacity and service equipment
A panel change may differ from a full service upgrade. Utility coordination, meter equipment, conductors, and load calculations may be relevant.
What to ask
Request a quote separating panel replacement, wiring work, utility coordination, permits, inspections, and optional improvements.
Do not remove an electrical panel cover, touch exposed wiring, bypass breakers, or work on energized equipment. Keep away from smoke, sparking, burning odors, or obvious overheating and seek appropriate urgent assistance.
